Deaf’s Lawsuit for not providing effective communication

The Baptist Health South Florida is facing a lawsuit from several deaf patients.  The hospital has refused to provide live interpreters.  They are wanting to write notes, read lips or use VRI (Video Relay Interpreters).  Unfortunately sometimes  this is not effective communication.  The VRI is slow or is put in a position that is not appropriate for communication.  Since English is not the deaf persons first language, writing is not always clear.
